Mary Lou Mahone Fund  A woman of substance and elegance, Mary Lou Mahone played a big role
in Kenosha. She was a dedicated leader and activist to her community
achieving much in her life, from being the first black PTA President
in Kenosha, to being a charter member of the Boys and Girls Club. Mary Lou Mahone was also a strong guiding spirit, bounding people
with love and prayer. In her private life she was a lover of literature
and music, a gourmet cook, and a keeper of African-American culture.

Mission:
The mission of the Mary Lou Mahone Fund is to promote
opportunities for economically or academically disadvantaged youth
and support Breast and Cervical cancer initiatives for economically
disadvantaged women.
Mary Lou Mahone Youth Scholars
Award:
The fund provides a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from each
Kenosha Unified high school including St. Joseph’s High School.
To date, we have awarded
72 scholarships to minority and economically deserving students. Scholarship

Awards:
Each year we honor & celebrate an individual or group whose life
daily accomplishments represent the multicultural and humanitarian philosophy
of Mary Lou Mahone. Living Legend 2009
Women’s Breast/Cervical
Health Fund:
Provides financial assistance for services related to the diagnosis and
treatment of breast/cervical cancer. This is a partnership between Kenosha
Community Health Center, Aurora Health Care, and the Kenosha County Health
Department. To date, 124 women have been served.
Career Exploration Program:
Job-training academic program for African American males 14-17 years
of age.
